Pseudomictis lativentralis View in CoL sp. nov.

Description: Measurements: Male: Head length in dorsal view 1.8mm; width across eyes 2.5mm; interocular space 1.5mm; interocellar space 0.7mm; length of antennal segments: I: II: III: IV=3.8: 3.5: 2.7: 4.5mm. Pronotum: Length 5.0mm; width across frontal angles 2.4mm; width across lateral angles 6.8mm. Scutellum length 2.8 mm; width 3.0 mm. Maximum width of abdomen 8.5 mm. Body length 22mm.

Female: Head length in dorsal view 1.5mm; width across eyes 2.8mm; interocular space 1.5mm; interocellar space 0.8mm; length of antennal segments: I: II: III: IV= 3.9: 3.5: 2.8: 4.6mm. Pronotum: Length 5.4mm; width across frontal angles 2.6mm; width across lateral angles 8.3mm. Scutellum length 3.0 mm; width 3.5 mm. Maximum width of abdomen 11mm. Body length 24mm.

Male: Dorsal coloration: Ground color puce; antennal segments I, II, and III black, segment IV orange; Scutellum black; anterior and intermediate tibiae somewhat rufous, all tarsi yellow. Abdomen above reddish, sides and segments V and VI black. Corium rufous, with black spots; membrane and under wings translucent, metallic. Ventral coloration: almost black, rostrum somewhat fulvous, abdominal sternum VI reddish.

Structure: Male: Pronotum declivent, with anterior 1/3 smooth, posterior portion irregularly wrinkled; lateral angles rounded. Abdomen laterally expanded and upwardly recurved, connexivum visible from dorsal view. Abdominal sternum III with a small spinous tubercle on each side, sternum III posteriorly strongly produced in middle, segment IV also produced posteriorly in middle with protrusion of sternum III, nearly reaching the posterior margin of sternum V and obviously elevated on sternum V, margin of protrusion of sternum III sinuate and apex bifurcate, apex of protrusion of sternum IV also slightly bifurcate, as in Fig. 8 and Fig. 13. Posterior femora inflated, recurved, ventrally with denticulation at apex. Posterior tibiae slightly ampliated, with a small spine near apex, as in Pseudomictis brevicornis .

Female: Dorsal coloration: Like male, corium with less dark spots than male. Ventral coloration: Rostrum and abdominal sterna VII to VIII fulvous.

Structure: Abdomen laterally expanded and upwardly recurved, ventral segment III posteriorly slightly produced in middle. Posterior femora simple, tibiae slightly ampliated but without small spine, like in Pseudomictis obtusipinus .

Type specimens: Holotype: 1♂, China ( Wufeng , Hubei (N 30.12° E 116.40° )), 1990.VIII.1, Li Chuanren leg.. GoogleMaps Paratypes: 1♂ 2♀, China ( Wufeng , Hubei (N 30.12° E 116.40° )), 1990.VII.30, Li Chuanren leg. GoogleMaps ; 2♀, China ( Wufeng Hubei (N 30.12° E 116.40° )), 1990.VIII.1, Li Chuanren leg.. (All types kept in NKUM) GoogleMaps .

Remark: This species is similar to Pseudomictis obtusipinus in size and the structure of the legs. In Pseudomictis lativentralis the male abdomen is laterally expanded, and the connexivum is visible dorsally. In Pseudomictis obtusipinus , the male’s body is relatively slim, and the spines on abdominal sternum III are visible dorsally. The female of Pseudomictis lativentralis is broader and shorter than the female of Pseudomictis obtusipinus .

Etymology: named for its expanded abdomen, from Latin lati and ventr.
