Type species. Xanthodes grossomanus Dana, 1852b [Type locality: Samoan Islands; junior synonym of Xantho lamarckii H. Milne Edwards, 1834 View in CoL , type locality: Mauritius Island, as Île de France].
Remarks. Pestoxanthias Števčić, 2005 (type species: Actaea inornata Rathbun, 1898 ) was considered an unavailable name by Ng et al. 2008. Further research taking into account Xanthias lamarckii is necessary to ascertain whether Števčić’s genus is a valid taxon.
