Family: Muscidae .

Current status: Valid genus [teste Pont (1986: 84)].

Remarks: Previous catalogs (e.g., Pont, 1986: 84; Sabrosky, 1999: 193) have given the typification for this genus-group name as Mesembrina meridiana Meigen, 1826 , by subsequent designation of Westwood (1840: 141).
