Deshayes, 1859: 285.

Type locality: ‘Iles Sandwich’.

Label locality: ‘Vasigapatam’.

Type material: Lectotype NHMUK 1979100/1 and 2 paralectotypes NHMUK 1979100/2-3 (H. Cuming collection). Lectotype selection ( Bratcher & Cernohorsky, 1987: 191, pl. 59, fig. 232d).

Remarks: There is a discrepancy between the type locality and the label locality. According to Bratcher & Cernohorsky, 1987: 191 the locality ‘Sandwich Islands’ (Hawaii Islands) is erroneous.
