Remarks. The metanotum dorsal midline entirely concealed by the mesonotum, partially fused fore wing cubitus posterior and anal vein 1, hind wing radius posterior and median veins fused at their bases, male opercula not Sshaped nor with a deeply concave lateral margins, abdominal timbal covers generally present, pygofer distal shoul-der well developed often extended into a pointed lobe, pygofer upper lobes generally absent (with a few exceptions in the Cryptotympanini Handlirsch, 1925 ), retractable uncus of moderate length, claspers generally absent (a few apically spined claspers present in the Dundubiini Distant, 1905e ), aedeagus restrained before and below uncus lacking a ventrobasal pocket, and apical theca lacking leaf-like lateral lobes distinguish Cicadinae from the remaining subfamilies of Cicadidae ( Moulds 2005; Marshall et al. 2018).
