REMARKS. As outlined above, the specimens of Fabricius and Germar represent the same species.Neither Megatibicen Sanborn & Heath, 2016 nor Diceroprocta inhabit South America. The holotype of Tettigonia grossa appears to have been mislabeled as originating in Brazil and the species is removed from the Brazilian cicada fauna.
DISTRIBUTION. The species is found over most of the eastern United States of America ( Sanborn & Phillips 2013).
