- One undescribed species, two described species and two tentatively identified described species were collected. Rheotanytarsus guancastensis , R. scutulatus and R. subtilis were described from northwestern Costa Rica by Kyerematen & Andersen (2002); R. contrerasi was described from Mexico by Andersen & Saether in Kyerematen et al. (2000). Our specimens of R. cf. contrerasi and R. cf. guanacastensis differ slightly from their original descriptions and must be compared with type material for more positive identification.
