Type material. Holotype male, USA: Fliclay County, unnamed creek, 1 pharate male, 13.i.1995, J.H. Epler ( ZMBN Type no. 454).
Etymology. From Latin, capitaneus, chief in size, large, referring to gonostylus bearing a huge megaseta.
Diagnostic characters. The pharate male is characterized by antenna with 11 flagellomeres, AR 0.61, apically acute; hind tibia without S-shaped seta; gonostylus with well developed megaseta.
Pharate male (n = 1)
Coloration. Head brown, other parts yellowish brown.
The limited characters known: Antenna ( Fig. 5 B) with 11 flagellomeres, ultimate flagellomere 212 µm, AR 0.61, apically acute, with about 8 apical sensilla chaetica. Hind tibia slightly expanded, with comb of 11 setae, without S-shaped seta. Laterosternites IX with 2 long setae. Superior volsella triangular, anteromedially separated. Inferior volsella small, rectangular, placed caudally. Phallapodeme slightly curved, 44 µm long, in caudal position of sternapodeme. Transverse sternapodeme 20 µm wide. Gonocoxite 95 µm long. Gonostylus apically curved, 34 µm long; megaseta 14 µm long. HR 2.8 ( Fig. 5 A).
