Chionodes mongolica Piskunov, 1979 View in CoL
Arkaim 14–16.VI.1996; Chalk Hills 03–07.VI.1998, 17.VI.1999, 11.VI.2001, 26.V.2004; Guberlja 25.VI.2003, 20.V.2004; Kuvandyk 13.VI.1998; Miass 14.VII.2003; Verbljushka 10–12.VI.1998, 18.VI.1999. A total of 19♂♂ and 1♀. Four genitalia preparations (3♂♂, 1♀) preserved in glycerol.
Distribution. Very few records from Ukraine and S Russia (S Ural). Outside Europe reported from Mongolia and S Siberia (Novosibirsk and Irkutsk oblasts, Tuva, Chita and Buryatia).
Remarks. C. violacea and C. mongolica occur sympatrically in the Urals. However, in these specimens typical characteristics of the female genitalia of C. mongolica (see Huemer & Karsholt 1999) are present and we found no intermediate forms between the two species.
