Type material studied. Paralectotype (♂) of C. furfurella (ex coll. Staudinger ( MNHB)) . Holotype (♂) and paratype (♂) of Metzneria cryptoxena (Gozmany, 1952) in coll. HNM (see also Remarks).

Distribution. SE Europe, Lower Volga and Kazakhstan (see also Remarks).

Remarks. There are small differences between specimens originating from C Europe, Crimea and S Ural. The specimens from S Ural are on average somewhat paler and larger than those from C Europe and Crimea. We couldn’t find any remarkable differences in the male genitalia between specimens from different areas. The type locality of C. furfurella (Staudinger, 1871) is in the vicinity of Volgograd (Sarepta), Russia.
