Distribution. Very locally distributed from C Europe to the Ural Mountains.
Remarks. According to Kasy (1962), specimens from Eastern Europe are darker than specimens from the type locality in France, and he considered the former as a subspecies M. balneariellus spp. podolicus (Toll, 1942). This species is new to Russia.
