Current status: Panstrongylus howardi (Neiva, 1911) ; combination proposed by Pinto (1931: 111).

Remarks. Lent (1960: 163) suggested a possible exchange of locality labels. According to the author, the genus Panstrongylus is typically Neotropical and, therefore, should not have been collected in tropical Africa. Lent also added this information to a label: “ Panstrongylus howardi / (Neiva, 1911) / Rótulo trocado? / 2-959 H. Lent det.”.
