Rubus almorensis Dunn (1921: 310) View in CoL
Type (lectotype, designated here):— INDIA. Uttarakhand: Almora, Ramganga below Wimakpani, 9 October, 1920, 2700 m, W. J. Lambert s.n., ( DD No. 24082! lower individual, isolectotypes DD No. 24083!, K barcode K 000737991 [digital image!]), Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 .
Perennial prostrate undershrub. Stem, petioles and pedicel armed with prickles. Leaves 3-foliolate, sometimes 3-lobed when young, leaflets lobulate, stipules deeply pectinate. Flowers white. Fruit red.
Distribution:— Uttarakhand, probably endemic of Kumaon hills (central Himalaya, India).
Nomenclatural notes:— Dunn (1921) described R. almorensis on the basis of specimens collected on 9 October 1920 by W.J. Lambert from Ramganga below Wimakpani, Almora district of Uttarakhand ( India). We traced two specimens in DD and K which can be considered original material. On the specimen in DD (No. 24083) are attached the original notes of Lambert, and thus this specimen is selected here as lectotype.
Taxonomic notes:— Dunn (1921) regarded R. almorensis as possible hybrid between R. nutans Wall. ex G. Don (1832:
538) and R. reticulatus Wall. ex Hook. f. (1878: 331) in accordance with the annotation by Lambert attached on the herbarium specimen kept in DD. R. almorensis can be differentiated from the other two species by its habit, the presence of prickles, shape, texture and indumentum character of leaves and colour of fruit.
