Cypridea (Morinina?) bibullata bibullata Wicher, 1959

1959 Cypridea quadrilateralis Swain bibullata n. subsp. —Wicher, p. 40–41, pl. 6, fig. 4.

Revised Diagnosis: A Cypridea (Morinina?) bibullata with the following peculiarities: rostrum pointed, fairly large, distinctly bent back towards the posterior. Rostral groove and rostral sulcus marked. Both valves with a flat, fairly broad but indistinctly bordered median sulcus, which does not reach the centre of the valve. On both sides of the sulcus, in the region of the dorsal margin, is a knob-like inflation, which can vary strongly: there are all transitions between weakly or slightly inflated roundish domes or “buttons” to more pointed spine-like or prickle-like formations. Fine sculpture: in cases of good preservation numerous relatively widely-spaced pits can be observed*. Carapace slim in dorsal view.

Remarks (Bate et al. herein): This is from the original paper - *The carapace surface is therefore in no way “smooth, without noticeable fine sculpture” ( Wicher 1959, p. 41). Krömmelbein based a new species with two subspecies on Wicher’s (1959) subspecies that we figure here as Fig. 1 , 5a–c .
