Material examined. Turkey: Ardahan: 1 male, 2 km E Göle, 2040 m, 40°47.4'N / 042°38.5'E, 8.VII.2004, Jiří Hájek & Jan Růžička leg., wet meadow near river shores and dry ruderal habitats close to a junkyard, baited pitfall traps (fish meat) with ethylene glycol ( JRUC) GoogleMaps ; Erzurum: 2 males, 15 km SW Erzurum, Palandöken Mts., Tekederesi village env., 39°48.8'N / 041°09.0'E, 1965 m, 26.VI.–13.VII.2004, Jiří Hájek & Jan Růžička leg., steppe near spring on N slope, baited pitfall traps (fish meat) with ethylene glycol ( JRUC) GoogleMaps ; 35 males, 43 females, same locality, 2230 m, 26.VI.–13.VII.2004, 39°47.6'N / 041°09.7'E, Jiří Hájek & Jan Růžička leg., steppe and meadow near spring, baited pitfall traps (fish meat) with ethylene glycol ( JRUC) GoogleMaps .
Distribution in Turkey. Ardahan, Artvin ( Háva et al. 1998, as N. confusus ); Ardahan, Artvin, Aydın, Erzurum ( Sikes & Venables 2013a, b).
Remarks. Widely distributed Palaearctic species, known from Europe to Eastern Siberia and west of China (Růžička 2015). Species attributed to open habitats (fields, grasslands), more on chernozem than on fluvisol soils in central Europe ( Jakubec & Růžička 2012, 2015) and steppe biomes in southern Russia ( Pushkin 2015). Recently, Sikes et al. (2008) confirmed the synonymy of N. confusus Portevin, 1924 (described from west of China and previously reported also from Turkey, Crimea, Caucasus and Transcaucasia—see Sikes et al. (2002)) with N. sepultor . In Turkey, a single record is reported from Aydın Province in Aegean Region, and several from the northwest of Eastern Anatolia Region ( Fig. 31 View FIGURES 31–32 ). Here we report additional recent records from Ardahan and Erzurum Provinces.
