Cephennula minuta View in CoL species group

Six species―one known previously and five newly described below―have the aedeagi drop-shaped, strongly tapering apically, with darkly sclerotized and well-defined median complex of the endophallus, composed of two lateral groups of elongate sclerites (Figs. 13–22). The sclerites are usually pointed at apices, at least some of them are curved laterally, and it is usually possible to see a very thin central internal channel inside some or all of them (Figs. 13, 20). In ventral view the sclerites seem to arise from a common broad base, lighter pigmented than the sclerites, but in one case some sclerites have clearly separated bases, well-visible in lateral view (Fig. 20). The aedeagi of this group are very similar to each other and their relatively complicated endophalli seem to support the hypothesis of the monophyly of the lineage comprising C. minuta , C. densepunctata sp. n., C. gemina sp. n., C. minutissima sp. n., C. penrissenana sp. n. and C. poringana sp. n. External morphology of these species is variable, from stout to slender body shape and different lengths of pronotal and elytral carinae; only the antennal club is nearly identical in all cases, strongly flattened, compactly assembled and with the antennomere IX much smaller than X and XI.
