Eschatoceras spinifrons (De Geer, 1773) View in CoL

Lobaspis parva Piza, 1976 syn. nov.

Lobaspis has been synonymized under Nicsara , and all the other 34 species of this genus are distributed in Australia, New Guinea, the Philippines and Indonesia. Piza actually mentioned that his species would be the first one for the American continents. However, the male holotype and an additional female specimen look like typical members of the genus Eschatoceras , whose known distribution includes Ecuador, Bolivia, Suriname, Guyana and Brazil. We compared these specimens with photos of the type specimens of E. spinifrons in OSF, and in addition to an identical habitus they share various details which confirm their conspecifity (very similar dark markings on the pronotum, on fore and middle tibiae, and hind femur).
