Toledopizia View in CoL gen. nov. ( Copiphorini )

Type species: Acantheremus salesopolensis Piza, 1980

This species lacks the diagnostic characters of Acantheremus mentioned in a revision of the genus ( Naskrecki 1997). This revision transferred “ A. aztecus ”, a species to which Piza compared his new species, back to its original genus Copiphora ( A. salesopolensis is not mentioned). While all species of both genera have welldeveloped wings, Piza’s female specimen has them strongly reduced, the tegmina being a little bit shorter than the pronotum. Since it does not fit into any of the described genera of New World Copiphorini , we describe a new one, to accommodate this unique species.

Diagnosis: In habitus and body size similar to Copiphora , but with tegmina greatly reduced and only about the length of the pronotum ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ). The fastigium is also similar in shape, but more slender and directed more horizontally, its lateral dorsal contour, which is finely and irregularly serrate, is elevated very smoothly and only little in relation to the vertex. The pronotum is fairly small with shallow lateral lobes, which are approximately three times a long as high. The very long ovipositor (approximately as long as body without fastigium) similar to the ones of Copiphora females. General coloration green (yellowish after death, in type species spines of hindlegs basally blackened).
