Toledopizia salesopolensis (Piza, 1980) comb. View in CoL nov.
Tympanotriba vittata Piza, 1971 (transferred to Conocephalini )
Piza placed his new genus Tympanotriba into the subfamily Tympanophorinae , which is restricted to Australia, comparing it to the genera Tympanophora White, 1841 , Mortoniellus Griffini, 1909 (now in Lipotactinae , distributed in South-East Asia), and Megatympanon Piza, 1958 , which he had already included into this subfamily (it is now in Listroscelidinae ). However, Tympanotriba vittata belongs to Conocephalinae , resembling very much the species-rich genus Conocephalus Thunberg, 1815 , except for the modified tegmina, with an expanded costal area with conspicuous parallel transversal veins. It is almost perpendicular to the stridulatory area and probably an acoustical adaptation, enlosing a subtegminal air space that might act as a resonator. We move this remarkable little katydid to the Conocephalinae , tribe Conocephalini .
