Literature records. SYRIA ( Morice, 1901).
Distribution. Greece to eastern Turkey and southern Turkey to the Levant ( Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel and Palestine).
Pollen hosts. Probably oligolectic on Fabaceae with a distinct or even exclusive preference for Trifolium : all 13 pollen loads (9 localities, 4 countries) analyzed so far exclusively consisted of Trifolium pollen. Flower record: Trifolium repens (label record).
Nesting biology. Three females were observed to close the entrance of nests of the pollen wasp species Ceramius palaestinensis (Giordani Soika) (Vespidae) with mud ( Mauss et al., 2010), suggesting that preexisting burrows in the ground serve as nesting sites.
Note. The record of Hoplitis lysholmi from Andalucia (Jaen, Cambil) given by Zanden (1996) refers to Hoplitis teucrii (Benoist) .
