= Cyana dohertyi laoensis Kishida, 2020 , Tinea , 25 (Supplement 2): 122, pl. 56: fig. 7 (Type locality: “ Laos, Luang Prabang, Phou Khoun ”), syn. n.

Note. Unfortunately, in the original description of C. dohertyi laoensis, Kishida (2020) did not illustrate the genitalia of the specimens. However, C. dohertyi mertsana was described to include the populations of C. dohertyi (Elwes, 1890) from Northern Thailand and Northern Vietnam (Volynkin et al. 2019) and the type locality of laoensis is located within its range. Additionally, two other related taxa in the C. dohertyi species group, namely C. aurantifascia Volynkin, Černý & Dubatolov, 2017 and C. titovi Volynkin, Černý & Ivanova, 2019 known from Central and Southern Vietnam, have remarkable external differences from the Indochinese populations of C. dohertyi . Moths of C. dohertyi mertsana are variable in their size and width of the forewing fasciae and the type holotype of laoensis illustrated by Kishida (2020) ( Fig. 4 ) fits the range of the intrasubspecific variability of C. dohertyi mertsana . Thus, the new synonymy is hereby established.

Distribution. The subspecies is known from Northern Thailand (provinces of Chiang Mai and Nan), Northern Laos (Luang Prabang Province), and Northern Vietnam (Lào Cai Province) (Volynkin et al. 2019; Kishida 2020).
