Type material
Holotype. Male, labelled ‘ CHINA: Fujian Prov. / Wuyishan City / Tongmu Village / alt. 800 m / 28 July 2008 / Nan QI and Zi-Wei YIN leg.’.
Paratype. One female, same label data as holotype.
Description
Male. Body reddish brown, mouthparts and tarsi lighter; BL 1.54. Head ( Figure 3N View Figure 3 ) much wider than long, HL 0.28, HW 0.36. Vertexal foveae indistinct, posterior edge of foveae located anterior to level of posterior margin of eyes; LE: LP = 1.80: 1. Eyes well developed, large and prominent, each comprises about 15 facets. Antennae with scapes thick and large; pedicels larger than antennomeres III, III–IV subequal in width, V–VI subequal in width, slightly wider than IV, VII–VIII subequal in width, slightly wider than VI, IX–XI ( Figure 6B View Figure 6 ) strongly clubbed; semi-membranous apophysis on antennomere IX as in Figure 7N View Figure 7 ; antennomere X wider than long, XI ( Figure 6I View Figure 6 ) with two truncate basal protuberances, the more basal one covered with tufts of specialized apical setae.
Pronotum about as long as wide, PL 0.35, PW 0.37. Elytra combined wider than long, EL 0.45, EW 0.61. Abdomen wider than long, AL 0.46, AW 0.52; tergite IV three times as long as next. Length of aedeagus ( Figure 8N View Figure 8 ) 0.19.
Female. Slightly larger than male; BL 1.74, HL 0.32, HW 0.40, PL 0.41, PW 0.42. Elytra combined wider than long, EL 0.52, EW 0.64, AL 0.50, AW 0.61. Eyes each comprises about 15 facets.
Habitat and distribution
Sifted from the leaf litter of a coniferous broad-leaved forest. East China (Fujian).
Etymology
The species is named after its type locality.
Remarks
This species may be separated from all other Sathytes species by the middle-positioned apophysis of antennomere IX, which is slightly curved and pointed posteriorly.
