( Figs. 20 – 21 View FIGURES 17–32. 17 )
Lepturgotrichona Gilmour, 1957: 27 View in CoL .
Type species — Lepturges stigmaticus Bates, 1881 View in CoL (original designation).
Leptrichillus Gilmour, 1960: 91 View in CoL . Syn. nov.

Diagnosis. Body very flattened dorsoventrally; prothorax with lateral tubercles distinctly acute, placed at the posterior third, the apex directed backward; pronotum without tubercles; elytra without centrobasal crest or longitudinal carina; basal metatarsomere longer than next two together. Number of species currently included: 4; Mexico and Central America : 2.
Remarks. Gilmour (1957) commented on Lepturgotrichona : “This genus is closely related to Lepturges Bates ; but is raised for those species with long or erect elytral setae.” According to Gilmour (1960) on Leptrichillus : “This new genus is probably most closely allied to Valenus Casey and Eutrichillus Bates from both of which it differs at first glance in the pronotal disc being smooth, without tubercles, amongst other differences, for example from Eutrichillus Bates it also differs in lacking centro-basal elytral tubercles and from Valenus Casey in both pro- and mesocoxae being almost contiguous. Whilst having something of the facies of Lepturges Bates , in differs primarily in the elytra bearing long setae.” Gilmour (1957) designated Lepturges stigmaticus Bates, 1881 as the type species of Lepturgotrichona , and Leptrichillus minutus Gilmour, 1960 , as the type species of Leptrichillus . However, examination of photographs of the holotypes of Lepturges stigmaticus and Leptrichillus minutus , as well as the original descriptions, shows that these species are synonymous. Accordingly, Leptrichillus is a junior synonym of Lepturgotrichona .
