Common name. Arnhem Long-eared Bat.

Current name. Nyctophilus arnhemensis Johnson, 1959 ; following Jackson & Groves (2015).

Paratype. M.27837 by original designation as USNM 284242 View Materials , [Field no. 5768]. Male, skull, study skin, collected by D. H. Johnson on 24 August 1948 from the type locality, Rocky Bay, Cape Arnhem Peninsula , Northern Territory (12°16'S 136°47'E). Exchanged from Smithsonian Institution, 19 May 1992 GoogleMaps , registered 13 October 1992.

Comments. Type series of five specimens, two paratypes from the type locality, holotype in USNM. The type series was collected during the American-Australian Expedition to Arnhem Land in 1948 .
