Description: Holotype male ( Plate 1 View Plates 1–4 ). Body 4.44 mm. LFW 3.04 mm.

Colours: Head and propodeum dark castaneous; mesosoma and metasoma castaneous; antenna, mandible, palpi, tegula, legs light castaneous; wings hyaline with distal spot, wing venation light castaneous.

Head ( Plate 3 View Plates 1–4 ): Mandible with five sharpened apical teeth. Clypeus with well-projected median lobe with apical margin truncate, without lateral lobe; median clypeal carina inconspicuous, fused with median lobe. Antennal foramina distance more than antennal foramen diameter. Antenna with insertion higher than clypeal carina, with short and sub-erect pubescence; scape curved, with same diameter along its extension; pedicel as long as wide; flagellomeres longer than wide. Eye rounded, large. Frons coriaceous, without setae. First five antennomeres in ratio of about 3:1:2:2:2. LH 0.94 × WH. WF 1.10 × HE. WF 1.88 × WH. OOL 0.83 × WOT. VOL 0.75 × HE. Distance of posterior ocellus to vertex crest 0.66 × DAO. Frontal angle of ocellar triangle acute; ocelli large; ocellar triangle compact. Temple converging posteriorly. Vertex convex. Malar sulcus absent. Occipital carina present. Gena coriaceous. Hypostomal carina rounded. Palpal formula 5:2, segments with flattened cross section, widened distally, apices of segments with some short setae.

Mesosoma ( Plates 2, 4 View Plates 1–4 ): Pronotal disc 0.5 × as long as wide; coriaceous, trapezoidal, side slightly straight; anterior slope of pronotal disc inclined in profile. Mesoscutum coriaceous, as long as mesoscutellum; notaulus absent; parapsidal signum present, complete, arched. Mesoscutellum coriaceous, touching propodeal disc; mesoscutellar sulcus narrow, arched. Propodeal disc 0.9 × as long as wide; coriaceous, median carina incomplete; sublateral carina absent; lateral carina present and conspicuous; coriaceous; posterior carina complete; spiracle circular, placed at lateral carina anteriorly. Declivity of propodeum coriaceous, without median carina. Lateral surface of propodeum coriaceous. Prosternum conspicuous. Mesopleuron weakly areolate and strigate at mesopleural suture region, with acropleural sulcus continuous with mesopleural suture, without fovea; mesopleural suture with inner margin striate. Wings: Forewing elongate, dorsal face without setae, with three closed cells; median cell almost rectangular; submedian cell almost rectangular; sub-developed; r-rs & Rs vein long. Hind wing with costal vein long, dorsal face without setae, fringed at lower margin; with six hamuli.

Legs: Profemur dilated. Trochanters clearly strong. Spur of protibia strong. Metatibia elongate. Tarsi elongate. Tarsal claw simple and arched, apex sharp.

Metasoma: 1.38 × longer than wide. Coriaceous, tergites I–II with pair of conspicuous lateral spiracles; tergum II as long as others.

Genitalia ( Plates 5–7 View Plates 5-7 ): Paramere divided in two arms, ventral arm with apex angled, dorsal arm club shaped; ventral arm longer than dorsal arm; dorsal arm strongly wider than ventral arm. Cuspis bi-ramous, ventral arm shorter than dorsal one, and as wide as dorsal arm. Aedeagus slender and straight, not surpassing paramere apex height; with apical filamentary projection not surpassing paramere apex height; basal half slightly convex; secondary apodeme divergent, turning back to apical half; inner apodeme parallel and strongly wide. Variations: Body length 3.04–4.44 mm; LFW 2.04–3.04 mm; forewing without distal spot. Remarks: This species is similar to G. dispersum Krombein, 1996 , only by having the head with temple converging posteriorly. However, G. paulae sp. nov. has the parapsidal signum complete and arched; the propodeal disc with only one carina, median carina incomplete, whereas G. dispersum has the parapsidal signum incomplete and straight; the propodeal disc with seven carinae, median carina complete.

Distribution: United Arab Emirates.

Etymology: This species is named after Paula, Celso Azevedo’s daughter.
