Notes. – This liverwort is characteristic of the Chocó biogeographic region of Colombia and Ecuador, and additionally occurs in the eastern foothills of the northern Andes (SHI & ZHU, 2005). Allioni collected this subspecies twice along the Río Sapotillo; one collection was described by Stephani as a new species of Leucolejeunea , the other one as a new species of Marchesinia .
