Pycnoderes explanatus Carvalho and Rosas, 1962: 249 View in CoL (orig. descrip.).
Diagnosis. Male and female sexually dimorphic. Male hemelytra strongly dilated at cuneus, with embolium more narrowed than for female. Pronotum and scutellum shiny black; clavus dark brown to black, with two silvery spots near apex of scutellum; antennal segments, rostrum (except apex), and legs pale; corium, embolium, and cuneus pale yellow or hyaline; margins of embolium, cuneus, and veins dark brown to fuscous; membrane hyaline. Length 2.65–3.00 mm.
Host. Unknown.
Distribution. Brazil (Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina) ( Carvalho and Rosas, 1962).
Minas Gerais specimens examined. 1 Ψ, Viçosa, Jan. 1946, Schlottfieldt ( USNM).
