Genus Monalocoris Dahlbom View in CoL View at ENA

Monalocoris Dahlbom, 1851: 209 View in CoL . Type species: Cimex filicis Linnaeus, 1758 . Monotypic.

Diagnosis. Pronotal collar distinctly delimited from disc; small dark species less than 5.0 mm long; first antennal segment shorter or equal to width of vertex; cuneal fracture shallow and narrow.

Discussion. Most species of Monalocoris are known to occur on ferns ( Ferreira et al., 2001; Wheeler, 2001). Although the specific hosts of the two species from Minas Gerais are unknown, Ferreira et al. (2001) listed the following potential hosts: Dryopteris sp., “fern family” Aspleniaceae-Aspleniales; Pteridium aquilinum – “Samambaia-das-taperas” - Polypodiaceae-Filicales.
