Host range and habitat. The species is associated with sylviid hosts ( Sylviidae ) of the genus Sylvia : S. atricapilla , S. curruca and S. nisoria .
Distribution. France, Poland, Croatia, Russia, Kazakhstan and Jordan.
Remarks. I examined the type material of Syringophilopsis faini Bochkov and Apanaskevich, 2001 described from Sylvia curruca from Kazakhstan ( Bochkov & Apanaskevich 2001). S. faini has characters that perfectly correspond to those of A. sylviae , e.g. the hypostomal apex has 1 pair of the sausage-like median protuberances, apodemes I are parallel, the similar number of chambers in each branch of the peritremes and the lengths of setae. Therefore, I consider S. faini syn. nov. as an junior synonim of A. sylviae .
