Type host: Carduelis spinus (Linnaeus) ( Passeriformes : Fringillidae ). Type locality: Russia.
FEMALE (2 paratypes). Total body length 800–875. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex with pair of medium-sized, blunt-ended and bill-like protuberances. Each medial branch of peritremes with 3–4 chambers, each lateral branch with 6–7 chambers. Stylophore slightly constricted posteriorly, sparsely punctate. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield rectangular in shape, densely punctate on whole surface. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1.3:3. Setae c2 situated anterior to level of setae se. Hysteronotal shields punctate, bases of setae d1 near this shield. Pygidial shield punctate, with rounded anterior margin. Setae f1 and h1 subequal in length. Coxal fields I–IV sparsely punctate. Setae 3c twice as long as 3b. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 10–11 tines. Setae tc’ and tc” of legs III and IV subequal in length. Lengths of setae: vi 55–75, ve 75, si 165–185, se 175, c1 215, c2 175, d1 150–170, d2 140, e2 145–170, h1 70–75, h2 440–490, f1 75–85, f2 375, ps1 and ps2 25, g1 65–75, g2 34–45, l’RII 35, l’RIII 35– 45, l’RIV 40, tc’III–IV 75–80, tc”III–IV 85–90, 3b 60–65, 3c 110–120.
MALE (1 paratype). Total body length 640. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex with pair of small and blunt-ended protuberances. Stylophore apunctate. Each medial branch of peritremes with 3–4 chambers, each lateral branch with 6 chambers. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield concave on anterior margin, sparsely punctate near bases of setae ve and si. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1.5:3–3.3. Setae c2 situated anterior to level of setae se. Hysteronotal shield punctate, bearing bases of setae d1, e2, f2 and h2. Setae d2 slightly longer than e2. Setae h2 4.5 times longer than f2. Coxal fields I–IV punctate. Setae 3b half length of 3c. Legs. Fan-like seta p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 8–9 tines. Setae tc’ of legs III and IV half length of tc”III–IV. Lengths of setae: vi 20, ve 45, se 125, d1 25, e2 20, h2 245, f2 55, l’RIII 35, tc’III–IV 35, tc”III–IV 70.

Host range and habitat. Oligoxenous species inhabiting quills of secondaries of fringillid birds ( Fringillidae ): Carduelis cannabina , C. carduelis , C. spinus , Loxia curvirostra , L. leucoptera , L. pytyopsittacus and Serinus canaria .
Distribution. Slovakia, Poland, Finland and Russia.
