Type host: Erithacus rubecula (Linnaeus) ( Passeriformes : Muscicapidae ). Type locality: Poland.
FEMALE (holotype and 10 paratypes). Total body length 735–856. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex with pair of wide, short and sharp-ended protuberances. Each medial branch of peritremes with 3–4 chambers, each lateral branch with 5–7 chambers. Stylophore constricted posteriorly, apunctate. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield concave on anterior and lateral margins, apunctate. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1:2.2–2.5. Setae c2 situated anterior to level of setae se. Hysteronotal shields present, apunctate, bearing bases of setae d1. Pygidial shield apunctate, with rounded anterior margin. Setae f1 and h1 short and subequal in length. Genital setae 1.2–1.5 times longer than pseudanal setae. Coxal fields I–IV apunctate. Setae 3c 1.3–1.5 times longer than 3b. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 9 tines. Setae tc’ and tc” of legs III and IV subequal in length. Lengths of setae: vi 65–75, ve 75–80, si 160–175, se 175–195, c1 190–215, c2 160–180, d1 175–190, d2 140–160, e2 180–190, f1 55–65, f2 320– 380, h1 65–70, h2 385–455, ps1 and ps2 30, g1 and g2 35–45, l’RI 45–50, l’RII 60–65, l’RIII 50–85, l’RIV 45, tc’ and tc” of legs III–IV 70–80.
MALE (3 paratypes). Total body length 570–645. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex with pair of short and bluntended protuberances. Each medial branch of peritremes with 4–5 chambers, each lateral branch with 7 chambers. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield concave on anterior margin, apunctate. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1:2.5. Setae c2 situated slightly anterior to level of setae se or setae c2 and se located at same transverse level. Hysteronotal shield apunctate, bearing bases of setae d1, e2, f2 and h2. Setae d2 1.5 times longer than e2. Setae h2 3.2 times longer than f2. Coxal fields I–IV apunctate. Legs. Fan-like seta p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 6–7 tines. Setae tc’ and tc” of legs III and IV subequal in length. Lengths of setae: vi 25–35, ve 20–35, si 65–80, se 80, c2 100, c1 90– 95, d1 20–25, d2 30–35, e2 20 –25, h2 145–165, f2 45, tc’III–IV 50–55, tc”III–IV 50–60, l’RI 30, l’RII 40–45, l’RIII 45–55, l’RIV 40.
Type material examined. Erithacus rubecula (Linnaeus) ( Passeriformes : Muscicapidae ): female holotype and paratypes: 19 females, 4 males ( AMU –SYR.71) (sec.); POLAND, Zachodniopomorskie, Darlowko Wschodnie, Bukowo-Kopan , 15 April 1999, coll. M. Skoracki.
Type deposition. Holotype deposited in the AMU, paratypes in the AMU and ZISP.
Non-type material examined. Type host species: 6 females, 2 male and 1 nymph ( AVB 05–0715 – 024 ): RUS- SIA, Novogrod Prov. Oskuy village (59°17’00”N, 32°05’00”E), 8 June 1999, coll. A.V. Bochkov. Material deposited in the ZISP .
Host range and habitat. Monoxenous species inhabiting quills of secondary feathers of Erithacus rubecula . Distribution. Poland and Russia.
