Type host: Fringilla coelebs Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Fringillidae ). Type locality: Russia.
FEMALE (2 paratypes and 10 specimens from type host species from Poland). Total body length 800–875. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex with pair of medium sized and blunt-ended protuberances. Each medial branch of peritremes with 3–4 chambers, each lateral branch with 8–10 chambers. Stylophore rounded or slightly constricted posteriorly, apunctate. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield rectangular in shape, sparsely punctate near lateral margins. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1.6–2:3.6–4. Setae c2 situated anterior to level of setae se. Hysteronotal shields punctate, setae d1 near this shield. Pygidial shield apunctate, with rounded anterior margin. Setae f1 half length of h1. Genital setae 1.1–1.3 times longer than pseudanal setae. Coxal fields I–IV punctate. Setae 3c 1.6–2 times longer than 3b. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 10–12 tines. Setae tc’ and tc” of legs III and IV subequal in length. Lengths of setae: vi 65, ve 105–135, si 220–260, se 225–245, c1 320, c2 215–270, d1 205–275, d2 175, e2 230–250, f1 105–165, f2 610, h1 210–295, h2 500–645, ps1 and ps2 35–45, g1 60, g2 40–45, l’RI 40, l’RII 55, l’RIII 55–70, l’RIV 55, tc’III–IV 90–95, tc”III–IV 90–95, 3b 55–70, 3c 105–115.
MALE (4 specimens from type host species from Poland). Total body length 640. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex with pair of small, blunt-ended protuberances. Each medial branch of peritremes with 3–5 chambers, each lateral branch with 6–9 chambers. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield rectangular in shape slightly concave on lateral margin, apunctate. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1:3–4. Setae c2 and se situated at same transverse level. Hysteronotal shield punctate, bearing bases of setae d1, e2, f2 and h2. Setae d2 and e2 subequal in length. Setae h2 4.2– 5.5 times longer than f2. Coxal fields I–IV punctate. Setae 3c 1.8 times longer than 3b. Legs. Fan-like seta p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 7–8 tines. Setae tc’ and tc” of legs III and IV subequal in length. Lengths of setae: vi 40, ve 40, si 120–160, se 100, c1 150–170, c2 115–130, d1 30, d2 30, e2 20, h2 150–220, f2 35–40, l’RI 25, l’RII 30, l’RIII 35–40, l’RIV 30, tc’III–IV 65–70, tc”III–IV 70–75, 3b 40–45, 3c 70–75.
Type material examined. Fringilla coelebs Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Fringillidae ): 2 female paratypes; RUS- SIA, Kaliningrad Prov., Kurish spit, Rybachiy village (55°09'15" N, 20°51'14"E), 19 September 1982, coll. S.V. Mironov.

Non-type material examined. Type host species: 38 females, 4 males, 10 nymphs, 7 larvae ( AMU –SYR.4) (sec.); POLAND, Pomorskie, Kuznica-Hel, 31 March 1998, coll. M. Skoracki. Material deposited in the AMU. Fringilla montifringilla Linnaeus (Fringillidae) : 3 females ( AMU –SYR.74) (sec.); SLOVAKIA, Kurov, 5 April 1978, coll T. Weisz. Material deposited in the AMU. Pyrrhula pyrrhula (Linnaeus) (Fringillidae) : 2 females, 1 male and 2 nymphs ( AMU –SYR.75) (sec.); POLAND, Zachodniopomorskie, near Gryfino, June 2001, coll. G. Kiljan. Material deposited in the AMU.
Host range and habitat. Oligoxenous species inhabiting quills of secondary feathers of three fringillid birds: Fringilla coelebs , F. montifringilla and Pyrrhula pyrrhula .
Distribution. Slovakia, Poland and Russia.
