Description. FEMALE (holotype). Total body length 1180 (1145–1245 in 7 paratypes). Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum densely punctate. Hypostomal apex with 1 pair of small and sharp-ended protuberances. Each medial branch of peritremes with 3 chambers, each lateral branch with 14–15 chambers. Length of apunctate stylophore and movable cheliceral digit 235 (235–245) and 170 (170–180) respectively. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield with deeply concave anterior margin, slightly sculptured and punctate laterally, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si, se and c1. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:2–2.5:3–3.5. Setae se situated anterior to level of setae c1. Hysteronotal shields absent. Pygidial shield small, sparsely punctate, anterior margin indiscernible. Genital setae shorter than aggenital setae ag1–ag3. Length ratio of setae g1, g2:ag2 1:3–4. Setae ag1 and ag2 subequal in length, both 1.4–1.6 times shorter than ag3. Coxal fields I–IV densely punctate. Setae 3c 1.4–1.6 times longer than 3b. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 12–13 tines. Setae tc’ and tc” of legs III and IV subequal in length. Apodemes I fused to apodemes II in middle part of apodemes II. Lengths of setae: vi 95 (80–120), ve 205 (210–250), si 285 (280–320), se 330 (300–320), c1 335 (300–330), c2 345 (285–325), d1 320 (295–305), d2 330 (295–320), e2 280 (295–305), f1 (80–110), f2 (345–370), h1 (80–110), h2 (390–445), ps1 (30–40), ps2 (30–40), g1 55 (50–75), g2 60 (50–65), ag1 200 (190–205), ag2 (170-205), ag3 (280–320), l’RIII 70 (65–75), l’RIV 70 (60–75), tc’III–IV 70 (65– 70), tc”III–IV 70 (70–75), 3b 85 (80–95), 3c 130 (1120–145).

MALE. Total body length 670–745 in 3 paratypes. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex smooth. Each medial branch of peritremes with 4–5 chambers, each lateral branch with 11 chambers. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield slightly sculptured, punctate laterally, deeply concave on anterior margin, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si and c1. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1.4–1.7:2.6–3. Setae se situated anterior to level of c1. Hysteronotal shield fused to pygidial shield, slightly sculptured, covered by minute punctations on whole surface. Setae d2 about 3 times longer than e2. Setae h2 6–7 times longer than f2. Setae ag1–ag3 subequal in length. Coxal fields I–IV punctate. Legs. Fan-like seta p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 11 tines. Setae tc” slightly (1.2–1.3 times) longer than tc’III–IV. Lengths of setae: vi 40–55, ve 65–75, si 145–175, se 190–215, c1 180–190, c2 250, d1 30–40, d2 varriable 55-85 (in 3 specimens) or 165 (in 1 specimen), e2 30 –45, f2 30–40, h2 180–215, ag1 90–120, ag2 70–85, ag3 85–105, l’RIII 40–45, l’RIV 40–45, tc’III–IV 40–45, tc”III–IV 50–55.

Type material. Passer domesticus (Linnaeus) ( Passeriformes : Passeridae ): female holotype and 11 female, 4 male paratypes; KIRGHIZIA, Bishkek, coll. N. Kravtsova.

Type material deposition. Holotype and most of paratypes deposited in the ZISP, except 3 female paratypes in the AMU.

Host and habitat. Monoxenous species inhabiting quills of wing feathers of Passer domesticus .

Distribution. Kirghizia.

Etymology. The name passericus refers to the generic name of the host.

Differential diagnosis. S. passericus is morphologically similar to S. polioptilus . In females of both species the hypostomal apex is ornamented by 1 pair of median protuberances; aggenital setae ag1 and ag2 are subequal in length and longer than genital setae; setae ve are longer than ve; the hysteronotal shield is absent. This new species is distinguished from S. polioptilus by the following characters: in females of S. passericus , the infracapitulum is densely punctate; the lengths of stylophore and movable cheliceral digit are 235–245 and 170–180 respectively; a punctate area near base of setae d1 is absent; each fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV is with 12–13 tines; setae tc”III–IV and tc’III–IV are subequal in length; setae ag3 are 1.4–1.6 times longer than setae ag2. In females of S. polioptilus , the infracapitulum is apunctate; the lengths of stylophore and movable cheliceral digit are 190– 220 and 140 respectively; a punctate area near base of setae d1 is present; each fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV is with 9–10 tines; setae tc”III–IV are 1.4 times longer than tc’III–IV; setae ag3 are slightly (1.1 times) longer than setae ag2.
