Type host: Loxia curvirostra Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Fringillidae ). Type locality: Poland.
Description. FEMALE (holotype). Total body length 430 (400–445 in 3 paratypes). Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum apunctate. Each medial branch of peritremes with 2 chambers, each lateral branch with 3–4 chambers. Stylophore apunctate, 130 (120) long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield rectangular in shape, punctate, bearing bases of setae ve, si, se and c1. Setae ve and si subequal in length. Setae se and c1 located at same transverse level. Length ratio of setae d2:c1 1:1.3. Setae c1 1.4 times longer than se. Hysteronotal shield fused to pygidial shield, weakly sclerotized, apunctate. Setae f2 about 4 times longer than f1. Setae h2 about 2.7–3.2 times longer than f2. Length ratio of aggenital setae ag1: ag2: ag3 1.2:1:1.8. Genital plate absent. Both pairs of genital setae subequal in length. Coxal fields IV sparsely punctate. Setae 3c about twice as long as 3b. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of III–IV legs with 6–7 tines, setae tc’III–IV 1.5 times shorter than tc”III–IV. Lengths of setae: ve (15–20), si 20 (15–20), se 145 (145– 170), c1 205 (170–185), c2 (120–155), d1 25 (35), d2 130 (145), e2 45 (35), f1 25 (25), f2 105 (80–85), h1 25 (20), h2 285 (255–325), ag1 (70–80), ag2 (60–70), ag3 (100–120), g1 20 (20–25), g2 20 (25), ps1 15 (15), tc’III–IV (25–30), tc”III–IV (45–50), 3b 20 (15–20), 3c 35 (35–40).
MALE. Unknown.
Type material. Loxia curvirostra Linnaeus ( Passeriformes : Fringillidae ): female holotype and 3 female paratypes ( AMU –SYR.281) (cov.); POLAND, Zachodniopomorskie, Darlowko Wschodnie, Bukowo-Kopan, 2004, coll. W. Busse.
Type deposition. All type material deposited in the AMU .
Host range and habitat. Monoxenous species inhabiting quills of covert feathers of Loxia curvirostra .
Distribution. Poland.
Etymology. The name loxius refers to the generic name of the host.
