Type host: Strix aluco (Linnaeus) ( Strigiformes : Strigidae ). Type locality: England.
FEMALE (holotype and 7 paratypes). Total body length 570–645. Gnathosoma . Infracapitulum apunctate. Stylophore apunctate, constricted posteriorly, 180 long. Movable cheliceral digit 130–135 long. Each medial branch of peritremes with 2–3 chambers, each lateral branch with 5–6 chambers. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield weakly sclerotized, deeply concave on anterior margin, laterally punctate, bearing bases of setae vi, ve, si, se and c1. Length ratio of setae vi:ve:si 1:1.6–2.3:3.3–3.6. Setae se situated slightly anterior to level of setae c1. Hysteronotal shield fused to pygidial shield, narrow and sparsely punctate. Setae d1 located equidistant between bases of setae d2 and e2. Genital plate absent. Genital setae g1 and g2 subequal in length, both about 1.5 times longer than pseudanal setae. Length ratio of aggenital setae ag1:ag2:ag3 2.6:1:2.6–3.2. Coxal fields I–II apunctate, III and IV sparsely punctate. Setae 3c about 2–2.6 times longer than 3b. Legs. Fan-like setae p’ and p” of legs III and IV with 8–12 tines. Setae tc”III–IV 1.6–2.3 times longer than tc’III–IV. Lengths of setae: vi 30–35, ve 55–80, si 105–125, se 205– 215, c1 220–250, c2 175–205, d1 155–170, d2 160–205, e2 160–180, f1 35–40, f2 185–190, h1 40–50, h2 375– 405, ps1 and ps2 30–35, ag1 135–145, ag2 55–65, ag3 155–190, g1 45–50, g2 45–60; 3b 40–45, 3c 80–120; l’RIII 45–55, l’RIV 40–50, tc’III–IV 35–45; tc”III–IV 70.

Type material examined. Strix aluco (Linnaeus) ( Strigiformes : Strigidae ): female holotype and paratypes: 8 females and 2 nymphs ( AMU –SYR.274) (cov.); ENGLAND, South Yorkshire, Worsbrough, 14 July 2008, coll. A. Norman. Type material deposition. Holotype is deposited in the AMU, paratypes in the AMU and NHML. Host range and habitat. Monoxenous species inhabiting quills of greater covert feathers of Strix aluco . Distribution. England.
