Callidium Fabricius, 1775 View in CoL
The genus is represented in Turkey by three species belonging to two subgenera: the nominotypical subgenus and Callidostola Reitter, 1913 . The Turkish Callidium species are: C. (Callidostola) aeneum (DeGeer, 1775) , C. (s. str.) syriacum Pic, 1892 and C. (s. str.) violaceum (Linnaeus, 1758) . However, the catalogue of Löbl and Smetana (2010) includes only two species for Turkey, omitting C. violaceum , although the lat-
ter was mentioned by Özdikmen (2007) for Turkey. C. (Callidostola) aeneum has been reported in Turkey by different authors from different localities but only in NE Anatolia (Giresun to Artvin province) ( Özdikmen 2007). It is represented only by the nominotypical subspecies in Turkey. C. (s. str.) syriacum Pic, 1892 , which was described from Hatay province in central southern Turkey, has been reported by Sama (1992) from Antalya province in SW Turkey and by Hoskovec and Rejzek (2010) from Kahramanmaraş province in southern Anatolia. Thus the species is distributed only in southern and south-western Anatolia (from Antalya to Hatay and Kahramanmaraş in the Taurus Mts). C. (s. str.) violaceum (Linnaeus, 1758) has until now been reported only by Besçeli (1969) from Karabük province in the western Black Sea region of northern Anatolia ( Özdikmen, 2007). With the specimen noted in the present text, Besçeli’s record is confirmed after 41 years. Thus the presence of the species in Turkey is a certainity.
Zoogeographically, C. aeneum has Sibero-European, C. syriacum has SW- Asiatic (Syro-Anatolian) and C. violaceum has Holaractic (except N Africa) or Nearctic + Sibero-European chorotype.
