Material examined. Female holotype from Toscana, Italy, 1.VII.1973, F. Magini ( MSNV).
Diagnosis. The female of the species is similar to H. rossii Brignoli, 1977 from Italy ( Brignoli 1977: 79, fig. 46), H. jocquei Bosmans, 1982 from Malawi ( Bosmans 1982: 177, figs 2 – 3) and three Chinese species: H. ovata Song & Zheng, 1982 ( Song & Zheng 1982: 81, figs 5–8), H. submaginii Zhang et al., 2011 ( Zhang et al. 2011: 19, figs 18A–F) and H. thorntoni Brignoli, 1982 ( Figs 7 View FIGURE 7 A–D) in having a distinctive epigynal atrium, but H. maginii can be distinguished from H. rossii , H. submaginii and H. thorntoni by the relatively small atrium ( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 E, 2A) and from H. jocquei and H. ovata by the short copulatory ducts ( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 F, 2B).
Description. Female holotype ( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 A–B) total length 2.70. AME smallest ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 C). Both cheliceral margins with 4 teeth ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 D). Leg formula: 4123. Epigyne ( Figs 1 View FIGURE 1 E–F, 2A–B) with a distinct, shallow atrium, with anterior margin distinct. A pair of copulatory openings located in the atrium centrally and epigynal hoods visible behind the epigastric furrow. Copulatory ducts relatively short. Subspermathecae anteriorly located and their diameter the same length as half of that of the spermathecae. More details of the holotype can be found in Brignoli (1977).
