Genus overview. Belongs to the tribe Chloropsinini ( Riccardi & Amorim 2020) . There are nine valid species restricted to the Oriental and Australasian regions ( Liu & Yang 2012). The feeding habits of most species are unknown. The diagnostic morphological features of Ensiferella include arista thick and long, sword-shaped with short pubescence ( Fig. 4A View FIGURE 4 ); long and broad ocellar triangle; wing with cell bm+dm narrow; tibial organ absent; male genitalia with band-shaped anal sclerites, surstylus short, with wide base and apex with spines, mesolobus variable (see Liu & Yang 2012; Riccardi & Amorim 2020).
