Distimake dissectus (Jacq.) A.R. Simões & Staples var. chacoensis (O’Donell) Petrongari & Sim. View in CoL -Bianch. comb.
nov.
≡ Merremia dissecta (Jacq.) Hallier f. var. chacoensis O’Donell (1941: 504) View in CoL . Type:— ARGENTINA. Tucumán: Tafí, Yerba Buena , elev. 550 m, February 1919, S. Venturi 212 (Holotype: LIL001327 About LIL !; Isotype: GH00054647 !) .
Notes: —Varieties of Merremia dissecta View in CoL have been recognized by various authors ( Hallier 1893, Hoehne 1922, O’Donell 1941, Austin 2007) based on differences in corolla color, leaf margin pattern and density of indumentum. Although varietal names can be difficult to apply, we have chosen to transfer the subspecific taxa to Distimake View in CoL to make the names available for taxonomic works in the region. This is a provisional decision, until more studies can be carried out to enable reassessment of their status.
