Comments: The widespread distribution of this species on both the east and west coasts of North America, South America, Japan and in Europe suggests that multiple species have been reported under this name and/or human-assisted introductions have occurred. The species is reported to contain both boring and non-boring populations ( Blake 1971; Sato-Okoshi 2000).
