Distribution: In Brazil it occurs throughout the counrty except in the state of Rio Grande do Sul ( Flora do Brasil 2020). In ParNa Iguaçu it occurs in the Foz do Iguaçu area.

Reproductive period: It flowers and fruits all year long ( Peterle et al. 2015). In ParNa Iguaçu it was found with flowers and fruits in May.

Diagnostic characteristics: The species is recognized by being a decumbent, herbaceous plant with stems bearing prickles, bipinnate leaves, flowers with pinkish stamens and fruits up to 4 mm wide.
