Anthaxia (Haplanthaxia) sjoestedti Kerremans, 1908 View in CoL
( Figs. 15–17 View FIGURES 15 – 17 )
Anthaxia sjöstedti Kerremans, 1908: 22 . Type locality: Tanzania, Kilimanjaro Province, South slope of Mount Kilimanjaro, Region Kibonoto Culture-zone.
Anthaxia sjöstedti: Kerremans, 1909: 28 (catalogue); Obenberger, 1930: 545 (catalogue).
Anthaxia (Haplanthaxia) sjoestedti: Bílý, 1997: 36 View in CoL , 116 (catalogue); Bellamy, 2008: 1476 (catalogue).
Anthaxia recisa Thery, 1947: 9 View in CoL , Fig. 32; syn. nov. Type locality: Angola, Lunda.
Anthaxia recisa: Ferreira, 1965: 851 View in CoL (catalogue).
Anthaxia (Haplanthaxia) recisa: Bílý, 1997: 33 View in CoL , 108 (catalogue); Bílý, 1999: 230 (comment); Bellamy, 2008: 1459 (catalogue); Bílý & Kubáň, 2010: 40 (synonym of thunbergi View in CoL ).
Type specimens studied. Anthaxia recisa : holotype by monotypy (male, LCDF, Fig. 15 View FIGURES 15 – 17 ): “Lunda, Sept. [p] // Angola Miss. suisse 1932–1933 [p] // recisa Théry [h] TYPE [red, p]”. Anthaxia sjoestedti : Lectotype (female, NHRS, Fig. 17 View FIGURES 15 – 17 ): TANZANIA: Kilimanjaro Province: south slope of the Mount Kilimanjaro: “Kilimandj[aro]. Sjostedt [p] // Kibonoto kulturz[one]. [= Culture-zone] [p] // Anthaxia sjostedti Kerrem. Type [h] // Typus [red, p]”. Paralectotypes (2 females): TANZANIA: Kilimanjaro Province: South slope of the Mount Kilimanjaro: “ TYPE [red, p] // MUSEE DU CONGO, Kilimandjaro, Kulturz., C. Sjoestedt, Coll. Kerremans, Don de la R. Z. A. [p+h] / / Kibonoto kulturz.[p] // R. DET. B 768 [p] // Kilimanjaro Sjostedt 1905-6 [p] // sjöstedti Kerrem. Type [h]” (1 female, MRAC); “Kilimandj. Sjostedt, 5 nov. Kibonoto kulturz.” (1 female, NHRS).
Anthaxia recisa View in CoL was erroneously synonymised by Bílý & Kubáň (2010) with Anthaxia (H.) thunbergi Gory & Laporte, 1839 View in CoL ; this act was based only on the description and the poor illustration of Théry (1947). After having studied the holotype of A.recisa View in CoL and comparing it with the lectotype of A. sjoestedti View in CoL I failed to find any difference and I propose that Anthaxia recisa Théry, 1947 View in CoL is conspecific with Anthaxia sjoestedti Kerremans, 1908 View in CoL and a junior synonym. In this way I have to correct the incorrect synonymy by Bílý & Kubáň (2010) and I must stress the fact that the any proposed synonyms should be based on the study of the type specimen (if it is accessible) and not only on the description.
Distribution. Angola (new country record), Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia.
