Neptosternus pocsi Satô, 1972

Notes. Neptosternus pocsi Satô was erroneously reported from Guangdong province, China, by Nilsson (1995), who referred to an abstract (most probably a working copy) of Zeng’s unpublished PhD thesis. This record was subsequently repeated, with a question mark, by Hendrich & Balke (1997) and Bian & Ji (2009). However, in the final, defended version of Zeng’s thesis available to us, it is stated (in Chinese), that the only specimen of N. pocsi she had studied was from Vietnam (“ Tonkin, Hoa Binh, leg. A. de Cooman, 1 ex.”) ( Zeng 1989). Therefore we remove N. pocsi from the list of Chinese fauna. The species is so far only recorded from Vietnam and Thailand.
