Remarks

Corydiinae is the most diverse and the most studied subfamily in Corydiidae ; even so, further studies are required. Rehn (1951) divided this subfamily into two tribes based on whether the female is winged ( Corydiini ) or not ( Polyphagini ). Grandcolas (1994) recognised 17 genera (including Cryptocercus ) and highlighted some problems with this subfamily. He noted Austropolyphaga and Polyphagoides should not belong to Corydiinae and questioned the North African genus Polyphagina (with only one species), considering it an Arenivaga species introduced from American deserts. But these problems have not yet been resolved. Roth (2003) listed 19 genera in this subfamily; he also questioned the status of Austropolyphaga and moved Leiopteroblatta , Mononychoblatta and Cryptocercus out of Corydiinae , and added Holocompsa , Hypercompsa and Euthyrrhapha . Before the present study, this subfamily contained 19 genera ( Beccaloni 2014); a systematic revision of this subfamily is still needed.
