Material. HOLOTYPE m (cr, right antenna, left hind wing, right wings, fore legs, left mid leg beyond coxa, right mesotarsus partly, and metatarsi lacking, left ¯agellum glued beside rest of body) labelled`p. 231. m. Or. Ex. m.; [empty label]; Collect. G. Mayr; Lamp. ¯orilegus FoÈrster, Type; LAMPROTATUS rusticus n. V. Delucchi det.; TYPE [red]’. One slide (sc) labelled`33; LAMPROTATUS [black underlined] rusticus [red underlined] antenna m; L. rusticus n. sp. 26 [circled] DIS antenna [pasted over by former label]’ with right antenna ( Delucchi, 1955a: 17, ®gure 15) and one slide (sc) labelled`34; LAMPROTATUS [black underlined] rusticus [red underlined] ala m; rusticus n. sp....la [sic, ®rst letters illegible] DIS [pasted over by former label]’ with right fore wing (1955a: 17, ®gures 16, 17) of holotype.

Remarks. Delucchi described the female and stated`Type im Nat. Museum in Wien.’ but did not specify the number of specimens he had. Holotype badly damaged during shipment and subsequently remounted by me. It is a specimen from the FoÈrster collection.

The species falls within the range of variation of Lamprotatu s splendens Westwood (see cupreus Delucchi for a brief discussion).

Status. Junior synonym of Lamprotatus (Lamprotatus) splendens Westwood syn. n.
