Material examined. HF13, NE of Canal Adalberto, lat. -48.6875, long. -74.5229, 19.iii.2012, 22.6 m, sample C157: fragmentary fertile colony, largest fragment 8.5 cm high (MHNG-INVE-86253); 19.iii.2012, 22 m, sample C158: a fragmentary fertile colony, largest fragment 15 cm high (MHNG-INVE-86254).

Remarks. For a description of this species and its synonymy, refer to Peña Cantero & Vervoort (2003).

Distribution in Chile. This species occurs from Guaitecas Islands in the North ( Jäderholm 1904), to the Strait of Magellan in the South ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2003).

World records. Occurs on the Patagonian Shelf ( Blanco 1981, El Beshbeeshy 2011, both as Selaginopsis dichotoma Jäderholm, 1904 ), as well as in the western Antarctica ( Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2003).
