Ponerorchis cf. secundiflora (Kraenzl.) X.H.Jin, Schuit. & W.T.Jin, Molec. Phylogen. Evol. View in CoL 77: 51, 2014
Basionym: Peristylus secundiflorus Kraenzl., Orchid. View in CoL Gen . Sp. 1: 518, 1898.
Homotypic synonyms: Gymnadenia secundiflora (Kraenzl.) Kraenzl., Orchid. View in CoL Gen . Sp. 1: 936, 1901. Neottianthe secundiflora (Kraenzl.) Schltr., Repert. View in CoL Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. 16: 291, 1919.
Specimens examined:— KACHIN. Putao District : 3960 m, 22 Aug 1931, Kingdon-Ward 9978 ( AMES, BM) .
Distribution:— Northern India, the Himalayas, Bhutan,?northern Myanmar and southwestern China.
Note:— FKW 9978 is similar to the pink- or purple-flowered P. secundiflora , and the duplicate at AMES has indeed been identified as this. However, it differs in having green flowers, which is rare in the genus; the flower colour is not given on the AMES sheet, but is on the BM sheet. This plant could be a green colour form of this species, although such a colour form is currently not known. Alternatively, the flower colour could also indicate an affinity to the green-flowered P. luteola (K.Y.Lang & S.C.Chen) X.H.Jin, Schuit. & W.T.Jin. However , this species differs in having inflorescences that are not secund, smaller flowers, shorter lip spurs and slightly different lip shape.
