Griffith s.n., Kew Distr. 5387 ( K). Reported from Sagaing and Mandalay regions by Kress et al. (2003: 86), but we have not seen any material from these areas.
Distribution:— The eastern Himalayas, northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
Notes:— A photo identified as P. carnea (Blume) Lindl. in Nyan Tun (2014: 383) actually represents P. rubra . According to de Vogel (1988: 49) five collections from Kachin State at BM and E also belong here.
