Vanilla aphylla Blume, Bijdr. Fl. Ned. Ind. View in CoL : 422, 1825
Specimen examined:—?MON.?Mawlamyine District: Gilbert 44 (icon. K). Distribution:—?Southern Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina and western Malesia.
Vanilla parishii Rchb. f., Otia Bot. Hamburg. 1: 39, 1878. Type :— MYANMAR. Tenasserim: Parish 286 (holotype: K; isotype: W-R 19330 )
Specimens examined:— KACHIN. Myitkyina District: 21 Jun 1897, Pottinger s.n. ( CAL). TENASSERIM. Type. WITHOUT LOCALITY. Cult. Calcutta Bot. Gard. ex Prazer s.n. ( CAL) .
Distribution:— Northeastern India, Myanmar, Thailand and possibly Peninsular Malaysia.
Notes:— Erroneously considered to be leafless, probably because it was described from flowers only, which led Seidenfaden (1978a: 146) to wrongly reduce it to synonymy of V. aphylla . Parish (1883: 185) had already noted it was a leafy plant, but his statement was overlooked by later authors. In Thailand, it was identified as V. pilifera Holttum , although possibly a synonym.
