Basionym : Sarcanthus erinaceus Rchb. View in CoL f., Bot. Zeitung (Berlin) 22: 298, 1864. Type :— MYANMAR. Tenasserim: Parish 149 (holotype: W-R 53488 ; isotype: K; icon. K) .

Heterotypic synonyms: Sarcanthus stowellianus Bateman, Bot. Mag. View in CoL 93: sub t. 5630, 1867, pro syn.

Aerides dasypogon Hort. ex Bateman, Bot. Mag. 93: sub t. 5630, 1867, pro syn. [non Sm. 1818].

Specimens examined:— TENASSERIM. Type. WITHOUT LOCALITY. Cult. Low s.n. ( K). Reported from Mon State and Tanintharyi Region by Kress et al. (2003: 88), but we have not seen material from these areas .

Distribution:— Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
